Master's Level Intern

Skye is currently pursuing her Masters of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Winthrop University. She previously earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology and a concentration in Criminology from Coastal Carolina University. She is passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore challenges, discover their strengths, build confidence, and create meaningful change. She strongly believes everyone has the capacity for growth and healing and strives to help clients recognize their resilience. Skye has experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). In addition, through internship work with a non-profit called Engaging Minds, she supported individuals who had experienced abuse and human trafficking by connecting them with resources, employment opportunities, food assistance, and housing. Skye enjoys working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, boundary setting, self-esteem concerns, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Through her training, she discovered a passion for supporting individuals who have experienced hardships, particularly empowering women who have endured unhealthy or toxic relationships. She is dedicated to helping clients find their voice, rediscover strengths that may have been lost, build resilience, and become the best versions of themselves. Skye utilizes a Strengths-Based Approach that integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy emphasizing emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and mindfulness. She is committed to helping clients reclaim their agency, discover their strengths, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and develop skills for lasting change. Outside of counseling, Skye loves spending time with family and friends, thrifting, traveling, outside in the sun, and is a huge animal lover. She also enjoys movies, music, and other creative outlets and values in the ways shared interests can help foster connection and rapport in the counseling process.
