Jody Chesley

MS, MA LPCA

Jody is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) in South Carolina with a deep passion for supporting children in becoming the best version of themselves. She is dedicated to meeting children where they are developmentally and creating a safe, accepting, and non-judgmental environment where they can grow, heal, and thrive. Jody believes deeply in the power of play, embracing the philosophy that “Toys are children’s words and play is their language” — Gary Landreth.

Jody earned a Master of Science from University of North Dakota and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rivier University. She brings a diverse range of experience to her clinical work, including providing intensive services to high-risk youth at the ISO level and supporting clients of all ages in private practice settings. Jody is currently pursuing advanced training in Child-Centered Play Therapy and will earn a Play Therapy Professional Certificate upon completion.

Jody utilizes Child-Centered Play Therapy to help children develop emotional vocabulary, strengthen self-esteem, improve emotional regulation, and develop a healthier understanding of themselves and the world around them. Through the therapeutic relationship and the language of play, she creates opportunities for children to safely express emotions, process experiences, and build confidence in their own abilities.

At the heart of Jody’s work is a commitment to providing a safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate therapeutic environment grounded in unconditional positive regard. She believes children possess an innate capacity for growth, healing, and self-direction when provided with the time, tools, and opportunity to do so.
